The Green Residence, Harvard, Massachusetts
This Acorn home, built in the early 1980s, featured an outdated solar hot water system. Moss Hollow Solar, LLC was hired to replace the roof and install a brand new solar hot water heating system, including a programmable controller that reduces loads on their pump by 50%. The homeowners donated the old solar panels to the Greater Lowell Vocational Technical School to be used for student training. A group of 8 carpentry students, accompanied by their instructor, came to the site for a short seminar on photo-voltaic technology and some hands-on learning.
The Word Residence, Petersham, Massachusetts
World-famous Troy Word decided that the new home he was having built would be "green." Moss Hollow Solar designed a PV system that will help him achieve his goal of energy independence. We’re waiting for the home to be completed before moving forward with the balance of this installation.
The Carroll Residence, Lunenburg, Massachusetts
Moss Hollow Solar, LLC owner, John Carroll installed a photovoltaic electrical system on his home in Lunenburg, Massachusetts in 1997 to experience first-hand the impact a PV system can have on one’s utility costs. The difference was immediate: a 40% reduction in his electric bill! The Carrolls continue to enjoy similar savings and, as their utility provider seeks additional rate increases, they plan to add additional modules to their roof and a larger inverter to offset increases they know are inevitable over time.
